Apleona continues to expand Building Technology division
- Apleona Wolfferts acquires SEG Group and its 260 technicians working across six sites in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse, adding electrical engineering and HVAC to its range of services
- Apleona is now a comprehensive full-service outfitter and decarbonisation partner for building technology and operations
- “Even partial modernisation of building technology delivers an exceptional return on climate investment”
Apleona Wolfferts, a leading provider of building technology in Germany headquartered in Cologne, has acquired the Smart Energy Group (SEG) from EOS-Partners. SEG specialises in electrical engineering, HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and sanitary engineering) and planning services. The acquisition expands the range of technical building services offered by the Building Technology division at Apleona, one of Europe’s leading providers of integrated facility management. The company is thereby becoming a full-service outfitter for building technology in Germany.
This is Apleona’s second major acquisition in the building technology sector in the last 18 months, following on from the Diehl Group last year. The Apleona Group already occupies a market-leading position in the facility management industry in Germany, and this latest takeover underlines the Group’s ambition to achieve the same in the field of building technology. The goal is to become the decarbonisation partner of choice for technical building services and building operations.
The Smart Energy Group (SEG), headquartered in Cologne, offers a comprehensive portfolio of technical building services for planning, installation and services in the fields of electrical engineering and heating, ventilation, sanitary engineering and air conditioning technology. SEG comprises four operating units: Oertel & Prümm (electrical engineering), Lentzen Gebäudetechnik, Matthias Frischke (HVAC) and gpc technologies (planning services for building technology services).
It employs roughly 260 people at six sites in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse.
Apleona Wolfferts is represented throughout Germany with over 1,700 employees at 25 locations and is one of the market leaders in the building technology sector. Its clients include prestigious industrial companies, property developers, general contractors and project developers, as well as public clients such as universities, hospitals, museums and trade fair companies. In addition, Apleona Wolfferts serves customers in small and medium-sized plant engineering for the installation of heat pumps, for example, and offers its customers comprehensive maintenance services, even after commissioning.
Speaking about the acquisition, Apleona CEO Dr Jochen Keysberg said, “Optimising building operations – using AI-controlled HVAC systems, for example – and fitting energy-efficient technology are key tools at our disposal for cutting power consumption in existing buildings and achieving significant reductions in carbon emissions. That’s why we’ve established building technology as a crucial area for the future as part of our strategy. Even partial modernisation of building technology delivers an exceptional return on climate investment. We want to position ourselves as well as possible in this area, enabling us to play an active role in shaping the energy transition in European and German existing buildings as a decarbonisation partner.”
Horst Kever, CEO of Apleona Wolfferts, commented, “We warmly welcome our new colleagues from the SEG Group and look forward to working with them. The companies have known each other for years through joint projects and have very similar cultures, on which we want to build our shared future. The acquisition of SEG also makes Apleona Wolfferts a full-service provider for all technical building services. This gives us a strong joint position, both in terms of area and for large projects, and we now offer all trades for energy-efficient and resource-saving building technology from a single source – from design to construction and maintenance."
Speaking on behalf of SEG, Managing Director Jürgen Oberdörster added, “With the exceptional performance and diversity of its technical focus, Apleona Wolfferts was already one of our established partners, which made it ideal for working together to secure a market-leading position in complex major technical building services projects in Germany and continuing on the best possible growth trajectory. We are thrilled to have found in Apleona Wolfferts the perfect partner and shareholder for building a shared future in our burgeoning segment of cutting-edge building technology.”
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
