Apleona is a partner in the decarbonisation process.

Jennifer Gerigk (Decarbonisation Programme Director at Siemens Real Estate), Grit Liebermann (Head of CREM at Continental AG), Prof. Dr Alexander von Erdély (Spokesperson for the Executive Board at the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks) and Dr Jochen Keysberg (CEO) discussed how investors, portfolio managers and developers can use decarbonisation strategically to reduce costs, increase value and secure competitive advantages. The discussion was moderated by André Eberhard (right) from Immobilienmanager.

The bottom line: progress, but no breakthrough yet in decarbonisation. Accordingly, Dr Jochen Keysberg pointed out that although demand for sustainable solutions is growing, there is still a long way to go to achieve the decarbonisation targets for 2030.

"We always recommend a step-by-step approach to our customers for the decarbonisation of existing buildings. After a thorough analysis of the current situation, we first recommend investments in optimised building operation and improved energy management. These investments are relatively low and have a quick ROI. This is followed by simpler technical measures such as replacing filters or individual components. Finally, the partial or complete modernisation of HVAC systems is on the agenda, the implementation of which depends on the condition of the building. Thanks to its broad spectrum of innovative building technologies, technical facility management solutions for energy optimisation and decarbonisation, and AI-based green tech solutions for predictive and optimised building operation, Apleona is well positioned to actively support its customers on their path to decarbonisation," he explained.

In doing so, Apleona is playing an increasingly active role as a source of recommendations and advice for customers, in line with the motto, ‘FM with its sustainability and decarbonisation solutions must move from the basement to the foyer.’
