Apleona significantly reduces CO₂ emissions again
This is the result of an internal study carried out in the first half of the year with the assistance of EcoAct, a recognised expert in CO2 accounting. The accounting is based on the globally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol and its current interpretation. The result now represents the entire company, including the former Gegenbauer companies.
The new combined carbon footprint is the basis for our further work and the definition of concrete reduction targets that go beyond the 5% target. Our next goal is to join the Science Based Target Initiative. This initiative brings together companies committed to limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees,' says Constantin Moxter, Head of Sustainability, defining the new sustainability era at Apleona.
The company is well on its way. CO₂ emissions per euro of turnover were recently reduced by 6.4% at the 'old Apleona'. This means that we have exceeded our target of 5% for the third year in a row, which is fantastic,' says Daria Stabelski, Sustainability Manager and responsible for CO₂ accounting.
Even more detailed data will be collected in the coming years to develop targeted strategies to reduce emissions.
