Helicopter operations above the rooftops of Frankfurt

A helicopter was required when a team from Apleona Wolfferts replaced seven cooling units, each weighing several tonnes, on the roof of Frankfurt's Nextower.

This operation followed three months of intensive preparation and coordination with the relevant authorities, police, and partners. In order to minimise risk, the operation had to take place on a Sunday morning, at a time when there would be as little public traffic as possible in the city centre. At the same time, the helicopter had to be used for the shortest possible time.

On the morning of 27 April, everything went very quickly. Once the Apleona team and the helicopter company's experts had taken their places on the two towers of the Nextower and on the ground near the prepared cooling units, the helicopter parked outside Frankfurt took off. The plan devised by the Apleona-Wolfferts team then came together seamlessly: in just 25 minutes, the helicopter transported the seven devices to the two towers of the Nextower.
