Interior design and building technology for the former Berlin Palace
The former Berlin City Palace of the Hohenzollern dynasty, which was completely destroyed during the Second World War, has now been rebuilt after many political and ideological disputes, redesigns and construction delays. Today, it is a cultural, event and museum venue whose diverse uses place the highest demands on HVAC and interior design. Only a few providers in Germany are able to adequately meet these technical challenges - including our Apleona Wolfferts building services and Apleona R&M interior construction divisions.
Apleona R&M makes the palace 'accessible' with innovations
Apleona R&M Ausbau alone equipped more than 50,000 m² of the Humboldt Forum with various flooring systems adapted to the respective use, including dry hollow floors, wet hollow floors and special constructions for catering kitchens and compressed air floor areas. The heavy-duty dry hollow floor with underfloor heating for museum use is unique, consisting of large-format natural stone slabs with a load-bearing capacity of 20 kilonewtons. Also worth mentioning is the complete refurbishment of a multi-purpose hall, including a special mobile stage flooring system.
Apleona Wolfferts air conditioning technology preserves cultural heritage
Apleona Wolfferts was contracted to install the refrigeration, heating and ventilation systems, including insulation. The size and complexity of the property and its uses, the numerous redesigns and construction delays made this an extremely challenging project for the construction and project management teams, namely Olaf Hofmann, Andre Heerlein, Kay Schulz, Peter Wagenitz, Kai Mittenhuber and Nino Bilan.
The museum use in particular, with its strict conservation requirements and very little room for deviation from the planned parameters for temperature and humidity, demanded all the know-how and experience of the project team.
