Business Sustainability

At Apleona, we see ESG as a core business imperative, not just a passing trend. Facility managers play an important role in creating sustainable real estate and social value.

Working together for a sustainable future

A dedicated and growing team of ESG experts is working with professionals from across the company to increasingly decarbonize our own services and further reduce our own carbon footprint.

„For us, sustainability is not a short-term measure, but a long-term commitment. We want to make a contribution to overcoming urgent challenges and ensuring a future worth living for generations to come.“

Dr. Jochen Keysberg, FRICS CEO Apleona Group

New and future reporting requirements, such as the Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the EU Taxonomy, promote transparency on material ESG issues both within the company and in the industry. The implementation of both directives will provide a platform to accelerate our sustainability efforts and make change measurable.

Decarbonizing the fleet

Company vehicles inevitably account for a large proportion of the Apleona Group's CO2 emissions.

This means that the vehicle fleet is also one of the biggest levers for reducing these emissions. Apleona is therefore pushing ahead with the conversion of all pool and company cars to CO2-optimised engines.

This includes giving all employees access to electric vehicles and introducing a company car policy for new hires in Germany that only allows electric vehicles.

Decarbonization of the properties in use

We lease more than 150 buildings across Europe with approximately 210,000 m² of office space for our own use. For Apleona, the most efficient use of space and the use of renewable energy for heating and electricity are the most important levers to minimize our environmental impact.

Decarbonization of purchased goods and services

A significant source of Apleona's carbon footprint is the emissions generated by purchased goods and services used to provide client-facing services or internal processes (e.g. back-office activities). For this reason, we work closely with our key suppliers to identify available data and opportunities for CO2 reduction.

„Our sustainability standards position us as a leader in addressing today's challenges such as climate change and carbon neutrality.“

Constantin Moxter, Head of Sustainability
